DURATION: 6 DAYS

PLACES TO VISIT: Serengeti national Park

You arrive in Arusha, Tanzania’s gateway to the Serengeti, either by flight or overland transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Once you reach your accommodation, you’ll have time to rest and prepare for the exciting safari ahead. You might also have a pre-safari briefing with your guide to go over the itinerary and answer any questions you may have.

In the morning, after breakfast, you’ll start your journey to the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The drive itself is an adventure as you pass through scenic landscapes and possibly encounter some wildlife along the way. Upon reaching the Serengeti, you’ll begin your first game drive, searching for the abundant wildlife this park is renowned for. Keep an eye out for the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and numerous antelope species. In the evening, you’ll head to your lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation.

This day is dedicated to exploring the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Your guide will take you to different areas known for their concentrations of wildlife, depending on the time of year and the Great Migration’s movement (if you visit during the migration season). The Serengeti offers incredible wildlife encounters throughout the year, and you’ll have the opportunity to see various animal behaviors, interactions, and perhaps even a thrilling predator-prey chase. During the day, you’ll stop for a picnic lunch in the bush to maximize your time in the wilderness. After an exhilarating day, you’ll return to your accommodation for dinner and rest.

After breakfast, you’ll leave the Serengeti and head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive will take you through the Ngorongoro Highlands, offering stunning views of the crater and its surroundings. Once you reach the rim, you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife areas. The crater’s enclosed nature creates an ecosystem with an extraordinary concentration of animals, including the Big Five. You’ll have a full day for game drives in the crater and enjoy a packed lunch at a designated picnic spot. Later in the afternoon, you’ll ascend back to the crater rim for dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey back to Arusha. Depending on the timing of your return, you may have the afternoon to explore Arusha town, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax at your accommodation. It’s an excellent opportunity to reflect on your incredible safari experiences and capture memories through photos and stories to share with friends and family.

On your last day, you’ll have breakfast at your accommodation before saying goodbye to Tanzania. Depending on your departure time, you may have a chance for some last-minute activities or shopping before transferring to the airport for your onward flight or other travel arrangements.

Please note that this itinerary is a general outline and can be tailored to your preferences, budget, and the specific wildlife events happening during your visit. Also, keep in mind that the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are large and diverse areas, so the wildlife sightings can vary depending on the time of year and the specific regions visited within the parks. A knowledgeable guide will make a significant difference in enhancing your safari experience and spotting the wildlife you wish to see.
